The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand arranged for a regional seminar held in Bangkok, Thailand on 19 July 2007. The topic was "Proposals on the Improved Governance and Management of the UN Secretariat".

Representatives of the UNESCAP Member States as well as senior officials of UNESCAP and other UN agencies participated at the event. The 4NI Steering Committee and Secretariat took part as panelists, presenting the preliminary proposals of the 4NI. USG of Management, Alicia Bárcena presented the perspectives of the UN Secretariat.

The seminar focused on discussions of the main management problems facing the UN as seen from different perspectives. The meeting participants were given the opportunity to comment on and discuss the 4NI preliminary proposals report.

The seminar was chaired by H.E. Dr. Manaspas Xuto, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and moderated by Mr. Kriangsak Kittchaisaree, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

In connection to this regional seminar, the 4NI Steering Committee also met to discuss the feedback received so far on the preliminary proposals, preparing for the final recommendations report which is planned to be submitted in September.
